About the Retreat
Our Story
Hoko River Mouth Retreat sits at one of the most breathtaking intersections of land and sea on the Olympic Peninsula — the place where the Hoko River completes its journey through ancient forests and empties into the vast Pacific Ocean. This is a landscape shaped by millennia of wind, water, and the enduring presence of the people who have called this coast home since time immemorial.
The retreat was born from a simple belief: that there are places on this earth so beautiful, so alive with the rhythm of tides and the calls of seabirds, that they deserve to be experienced slowly and intentionally. Here, the pace of modern life falls away, replaced by the crash of surf, the scent of salt air mingling with cedar, and sunsets that set the entire horizon ablaze.
Whether you come to surf the river mouth break, hike the rugged coastline, or simply sit by a fire and listen to the ocean, Hoko River Mouth Retreat offers a rare opportunity to connect with the raw beauty of the Pacific Northwest. As an exclusive-access resort, your group books the entire retreat — giving you private access to the beach, facilities, and grounds for the duration of your stay. Optional bunk house add-ons provide indoor comfort for those who want it, while the oceanfront camping remains the heart of the experience.
